NSW claim eight early medals at World Masters Championships

After six days of competition at the World Masters Athletics Championships, NSW athletes have claimed eight medals. The Championships, being held in Tampere Finland, is a 10-day competition running from June 29 to July 10. Australia was sitting 10th on the medal table with 6 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze medals. Host nation Finland lead the table, followed by Germany and the USA.

Eloise and Kathryn will become the first track and field athletes to attend five Commonwealth Games. Athletics NSW to co-host the WXC Bathurst 23 Test Event

The 2022 NSW Short Course Cross Country Championships (NSW XC Short Course) will be conducted at Mount Panorama in Bathurst, NSW, as part of the leadup to the World Athletics Cross Country Championships Bathurst 23, on Sunday 7th August, 2022. Athletics NSW (ANSW) is working closely with the WXC Bathurst 23 Local Organising Committee (LOC) and Athletics Australia (AA) in delivering this year’s NSW XC Short Course, which is also acting as a test event for WXC Bathurst 23.

Under-20 XC winners Laura Roderick and Pat Cantlon lead quality junior fields at State XC

The junior fields, from under-12 to 14 at the NSW Cross Country Championships yesterday at Willandra, were some of the strongest for years. Many event line-ups had highly competitive races way more than 10 deep. Maybe with the World Cross Country Championships in their sights next year or after missing some racing in the last two years due to COVID, either way it is promising for NSW distance running hopes.

Willandra Cross Country Course to host 30th State Championship

Next Saturday the iconic cross country venue, Willandra - the Gibb family farm at Tapitallee, near Nowra, will host its 30th NSW Cross Country Championship, stretching back 32 years. The first championship held there was the 1990 NSW Short Course XC and over the three decades they have hosted 22 NSW Cross Country titles, five Short Course XC and three XC Relays.
