World U20 Team Profile: Connor Bond

From Rugby royalty, Connor Bond has been a national level sprinter for nearly a decade, but he regards his brilliant 2021/22 season as a breakthrough campaign. Despite incredible depth in Australian men’s junior sprinting, he was able to place third in the National U20 100m and second in the 200m. He ran consistently fast times in the summer of 2022 hitting outstanding bests of 10.46 and 21.00. He secured selection in the 4x100m Australian team for the World U20 Championships.

NSW Cross Country Selection Criteria Announced

The selection criteria for athletes looking to qualify for the NSW Cross Country Team, to present our state at the 2022 Athletics Australia Cross Country Championships in Adelaide, are now available.

Run Crew double at XC Relays

Run Crew’s men's and women's open teams defended their NSW Cross Country Relay titles at the 31st edition of the event held at Upjohn Park in Rydalmere on a beautiful winters days on Saturday. Parts of the course were muddy, but generally the course had not been too affected by the constant rain during 2022. The race returned to a regular venue used for the NSW Short Course Cross Country in the early 2010s.

World University Games team announced

Today Athletics Australia named 12 NSW athletes in the 2022 World University Games Ceremonial Team for the postponed 2022 Games. The purpose of the Ceremonial team is to recognise the athletes that would normally have been selected.

Laurie Keaton to receive Sport NSW Distinguished Service Award

For 58 years Laurie Keaton has been a key official and administrator for athletics in NSW and the ACT and this enormous service will be recognised on June 30 at the prestigious Sport NSW Community Awards where he will receive a Distinguished Long Service Award.

Nine NSW athletes are Birmingham-bound

Today nine NSW athletes were announced in the initial selections of 32 athletes for the Australian Commonwealth Games team for Birmingham 2022. The group includes five Para-Athletes and features two athletes on the rise Julie Charlton and Sarah Clifton-Bligh.

168 years of service recognised at the St George Club’s Centenary Celebrations

Today’s Centenary Celebrations at the St George District Athletics Club were a great opportunity to recognise the service of three of the most outstanding recent administrators of the club. Combined, Ron Gribble, Dennis Jolliffe and Alan Staples have given 168 years of service to the St George club - each over 50-years - an extraordinary contribution to the club. They were awarded Athletics Australia’s highest recognition for club administration, the Platinum Service Award for 40+ years service.

St George Club celebrates 100 years

This Saturday, the St George District AAC celebrates 100 years at one of the few iconic venues of athletics in NSW, Scarborough Park host of the State Novice Cross Country since 1940.

Sydney 10: Weightman shatters records

In glorious running conditions the 2022 Sydney10 saw record fields and performances. In the women’s, four-time Olympian Lisa Weightman, ran the fastest women’s 10km road time ever in Australia, while in the men’s there was a breakthrough and surprise for Brisbane’s Kieren Perkins.
