Athletics NSW is offering athletes aged 10-14 the opportunity to take part in our School Holiday Camps from 8-31 January 2024 at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre.
On a gloomy night at Homebush, the athletes really shone, led by 16-year-old Isaac Beacroft setting an Australian Under-18 10,000m walk record, his third in less than a year, and astonishingly on debut at the distance. In the women’s, sisters Allanah and Sienna Pitcher, claimed the open and under-20 10000m walk titles.
New week in Honiara in the Solomon Islands seven NSW athletes will compete in the Pacific Games. The 5-day competition is a key competition for those with Paris Olympic Games aspirations.

Following intermittent rain during the afternoon, the weather cleared for the NSW 3000m championship races at ES Marks Field last evening. Josh Phillips won the 20th men’s title, first held in 2004, to add to his recent 10,000m win.

On day one of the Junior NSW All Schools Athletics Championships we saw established stars continue their reign, but also the emergence of some bright new talent. It was a fourth consecutive win for hurdler Tammin Lampret and a second consecutive record for race walker Sophie Polkinghorne, while in the field exciting new athletes emerging include discus thrower Ashley Hogan and Csenge Zsuzsanna Zsombor in the pole vault.
NSW’s distance duo Jessica Hull and Morgan McDonald closed their 2023 campaigns with epic performances at the World Road Running Championships in Riga overnight. In contrasting seasons, Hull placed fifth in the women’s mile, while McDonald was seventh in the men’s 5km event.
The performances went up a notch on the final day of the NSW All Schools Championships, led by a World leading performance by 800m athlete Daniel Williams. Sam Perkins competed a perfect NSW All Schools journey with a sixth consecutive title, while 16-year-olds Ivy Boothroyd (800m) and Izzi Louison-Roe (triple jump) recorded the best ever performances in the history of the championships.
