Ed Goddard heads menâ€™s fields for the NSW Short Course XC

One of the favourites for the 106th NSW Short Course Cross Country Championships next Sunday in Wollongong, is NSWâ€™s 2019 distance runner of the year, Ed Goddard. It is no surprise the first return to competition event in NSW has attracted strong fields, particularly in the open men ensuring Goddard will have his hands full just finishing on the podium.

Leading NSW junior athletics head early entries for NSW cross country

With six days until entries close, many of NSWâ€™s leading juniors have confirmed for the first event in the re-launched Athletics NSW winter program. The gun will fire in the first event on Sunday 19th July when the NSW Short Course Cross Country Championships are held at Dapto on the NSW South Coast.

2020 Club Award winners - Margaret Beardslee and UTS Norths

Mingara clubâ€™s Margaret Beardslee and UTS Norths have won the top Athletics NSW club awards for 2020. The sport in NSW is fortunate to have many hard-working club administrators. Often they go unrecognised as they burn the midnight candle organising everything from finances to registrations, uniforms, awards, publicity competitions and relay teams.

Vale: Jim Bailey â€“ 1956 Olympian

During the â€˜50s and â€˜60s Australia produced a procession of the world class milers, including John Landy, Merv Lincoln, Herb Elliott and Albie Thomas. A lesser known was 1956 Olympian Jim Bailey (STG) who passed away aged 90 last week (March 31) in Bellingham in Washington State.
