World Indoors: Preview and how to watch our athletes

Inform NSW duo Nicola Olyslagers and Jessica Hull lead the Australian team at the 19th edition of the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

Nicola and Jessica have equalled or broke Australian records in 2024 in the events they will contest – high jump and 3000m respectively. Unfortunately, Eleanor Patterson has withdrawn from the team.

Competition commences Friday night Australian time with Victorian Catriona Bisset the first in action in the 800m heats.

NSW Athlete schedule:

Saturday March 2: Nicola Olyslagers 6.41am - high jump final

Sunday March 3: Jessica Hull 7.15am – 3000m final

For Australians the championships will be broadcast live on SBS Viceland (channel 170) and SBS On Demand.

Nicola will compete indoors for the first occasion in seven years.

“I’m excited for my first World Indoor Championships. I don’t feel pressure to perform but rather excited for the new challenge. Every one of these high jumpers will help push me to jump high, it’s something I have missed so far this season and I believe I am going to help bring the best out of them too,” Olyslagers told Athletics Australia this week.

She is rated equal favourite with Ukraine Yaroslava Mahuchikh. Last year they were 2-2 in head-to-head competitions although Mahuchikh won the two most important.

Jessica Hull continues her incredible green and gold representation as the only athlete on every major Australian team since the 2019 world championships.

“It will be a good indicator of where I am now against the women I’ll be racing later in the year and to keep learning what we need to work on to be ready in Paris. The best way to learn is to race, especially with indoors, you learn so much from being in the tight pack and getting a feel for your competitors,” Hull told Athletics Australia.
