Treloar Shield continues to grow 

The prestigious Treloar Shield is making its return on the weekend, and the series is already showing signs of being significantly larger than last year with participation numbers on the rise.

The weekly inter-club competition has been a part of our Athletics season for 99 years. In 2013 it was renamed to pay tribute to NSW 100/200m sprinter, John Treloar. Spanning six weeks and culminating in a final on Saturday 16 December the competition is open to athletes as young as nine years old. 

In 2022 UTS Norths displayed their dominance taking home four of the five available titles, Opens, Under 18s, Masters 50s and Masters 35-49s. This season age groups include, Under 12s, Under 15s, Under 18s, Opens, Masters 35-49 and Masters 50+. 

All rounds of Treloar Shield are ratified by World Athletics and Athletics Australia, in the events for the Open and Under 18 age groups only (including performances achieved with Under 20 implements). Athletes competing in these age groups can qualify for international and national competition, accumulate World Athletic ranking points, break Athletics NSW and Athletics Australia records, and have their performances added to World Athletics top lists. 

All other events will be ratified as a state permit, allowing athletes to qualify for the Australian Athletics Championships

Make sure to mark your calendar, as on-time entries will close at midday on the Wednesday before each competition round. Late guaranteed entries will remain open until 11.59 pm on the Wednesday before the event, incurring a $10 late fee. We'll do our best to accommodate any entries submitted after this time.
