Stephen Smith and Owen Kelly Join ANSW Team

In recent weeks, Stephen Smith (Corporate Services Manager, F/T) and Owen Kelly (Club, Memberships and Coaching Coordinator, F/T) have joined the Athletics NSW Office as important staff members in ensuring that the business can continue to service all of it's stakeholders in a professional, timely and effective manner.

Stephen joins us with a background in Finance and Administration covering both the Commercial and Not for Profit industries.

His recent history includes Commercial Manager and Corporate Services Manager in the Aged Care industry following a 25 year career with the Nine Network and Publishing and Broadcasting Limited which included 5 years as the CEO of EMTV, the Nine Network station, in Papua New Guinea.

Stephen loves all sports. He has spent 30 years involved with the Northern Suburbs Basketball Association as Referee, Referee Coordinator, Evaluator/Coach, Score bench official and Board Director. He is also a member of the Northside Running Group (NRG).

His main aim is to assist Athletics NSW to achieve its full potential and bring in more participants to the sport of athletics.

Owen joins us having worked with Blacktown City Council for six years, working as a Learn to Swim instructor, activity assistant and other various positions, as well as having started as a Taekwondo instructor.

He is currently studying a degree of Sports Business at ACPE and with this degree, he intends to work with sporting organisations and clubs to help build and grow them for future generations to experience and enjoy. Owen has a strong passion for sport and have participated in athletics carnivals at school, as well as currently playing soccer in his free time.

Owen states that "I would like to play a crucial role in assisting the Athletics NSW team in their goal to help improve and develop athletics through aiding clubs and athletes in their sporting journey."

We're looking forward to having Stephen and Owen join us as Athletics NSW takes it's next steps into the future off the back of the Strategic Plan 2022-2026, to be formally announced to the wider community tomorrow morning.
