Statement regarding Athletics NSW CEO

Published Thu 13 Jan 2022

After almost three years of service to Athletics NSW (ANSW), Kirin Lindop has tendered her resignation as CEO of ANSW to the Board.

The Board wishes to thank Ms Lindop for her service as CEO during what has been one of the most challenging times our sport and business have faced in its more than 100-year history. Ms Lindop has skilfully navigated the challenges to our sport posed by the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that ANSW will emerge from this period in a stronger position than before – a significant achievement in the face of the extent of the disruption caused by the pandemic. Throughout her time with ANSW, Ms Lindop has proven herself to be an effective sporting administrator and supportive leader to our staff.

Ms Lindop will continue in her role as CEO until 21 January 2022, during which time Andrew Matthews will work with Ms Lindop in a transitional phase before taking over as Interim CEO while the Board conducts a public recruitment process for the next permanent CEO. Mr Matthews is a long-serving and highly respected athletics administrator who has served in senior roles with the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Athletics Australia and ANSW for over a decade, while also having recently served as a member of the Board of Directors of ANSW.

The details of the CEO recruitment process will be announced shortly. The Board, Ms Lindop, Mr Matthews and all of our staff will be working together throughout this transitional period to ensure that ANSW continues to deliver for its membership and the sport as a whole.

Throughout her time in the role of CEO, our membership has come to know Ms Lindop as a person of integrity and passion for the sport. We know that passion will continue notwithstanding the fact that Ms Lindop is moving on to new opportunities in her professional life.

On behalf of all ANSW’s members, the Board would like to thank Ms Lindop for her dedication to the organisation during her tenure as CEO and wishes her all the best as she moves on to the next phase of her career.
