NSW Country Championships Coming To Maitland

Athletics NSW is excited to announce that the Maitland Regional Athletics Centre will host the Athletics NSW and the 2022 NSW Country Championships in January, supported by the Maitland City Council. The event will take place between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd January, 2022.

Kirin Lindop, CEO of Athletics NSW says, “The NSW Country championships are an important part of our regional calendar of events, and we are excited to be bringing our athletes and supporters to Maitland in 2022.”

 

Lauren Chester, the Competition Manager at Athletics NSW says, “We have been really impressed by our initial conversations with Maitland City Council and the facilities are Maitland Regional Athletics Centre. We’re really looking forward to the 2022 Country Champs and working with local clubs, volunteers and businesses in the Hunter.”

Traditionally, up to 1000 athletes and their families attend the NSW Country Championships every year, and the event attracts athletes and their families from all over NSW.


Mayor of Maitland, Loretta Baker says, ‘It’s fantastic to see that our wonderful new facility will host such an important event. Maitland has such a proud sporting history, and we’re excited to be welcoming athletes and their families next year.”

 

Athletics NSW will run the event in a COVID Safe way, following NSW Health’s guidelines for community sports when the championships occur.
