Athletics NSW aiming to build stronger communities through Make Bullying History partnership

Published Fri 23 Oct 2020

Athletics NSW (ANSW) has today announced a partnership with the Make Bullying History Foundation (MBHF) which will see the 2020/21 season competition bib adorned with the Make Bullying Foundation Logo.

The MBHF focuses on the education and prevention of bullying, domestic violence and abuse. Over the last 20 years they have developed and delivered award winning and globally recognised services across Australia, New Zealand and around the world. The MBHF’s mission is to build safe people and safe places, by helping individuals become a Safeheart.

The introduction of this partnership highlights a commitment from ANSW to strengthen the athletics community by standing together to eradicate bullying through education and awareness.  When athletes come to an ANSW or club meet they will know that they will be entering a safe environment where everyone is free to be themselves without fear of judgement or persecution.

Kirin Lindop, CEO Athletics NSW believes the partnership will not only enhance the athletics environment but will provide athletes with the opportunity to grow outside of our sport.

MBHF Chief Encouragement Officer, Brett Murray said, “We are so excited to be partnering with ANSW. To have the opportunity to partner with such a family-oriented organisation that helps foster and encourage our youth to dare to dream in one of the most difficult and competitive sports on the planet, athletics, is a true honour for us. Together we know that every meet and every athlete will be a safe place, which will help influence their world off the track.”

ANSW and MBHF are currently working through the delivery options for the educational sessions with more details to follow in the near future.
