2024 FAQS

NSW XC Relay Championships

For Athletes...

The NSW XC Relays are a fun relay event which clubs can form relay teams of four (4) athletes to compete together for medals.

The 2024 XC Relays will be held at the Armory, Newington on the 1st June.

There are many reasons to compete at the NSW Cross Country Relays and the rest of our 2024 Winter Series.

In particular,

  • The opportunity to race and compete in a relay team with others from your club for medals, points, and enjoyment
  • Contribute points for your club to the winter point score system
  • Enjoy a cross country course in the centre of Sydney Olympic Park

The winter events are open to everybody aged 8-99+.

Under the recently announced partnership with Little Athletics, any member of Little Athletics is eligible to compete for their Little Athletics Club

Access for Little Athletics members complements ANSW members who are registered as Open, Concession, Junior, or Youth member.

There will be  two types of teams that you will select from in the entry form:

Championship Team

Athletes wishing to be considered for State Championships medals and winter pointscores, must be registered with Athletics NSW (as a Open, Concession, Junior or Youth member) or Little Athletics NSW. These will be defined as Championship teams.

Non-Championship Team

Non-Championship teams are not eligible for Championship medals or Winter points and will be defined as;

  • Teams with both athletes being Members of ANSW or LANSW but are not members of the same club OR;
  • Teams with one or both athletes being Non-Members of ANSW or LANSW

Athletes from non-metropolitan clubs may, with the approval of Athletics NSW, combine with athletes from other clubs in their geographical area to form regional teams

NSW Masters Athletics Association (NSWMA) members who are also members of an ANSW Athletics club may compete for the NSWMA only with the written consent from the Team Manager of both their first claim club and the NSWMA. Such athletes may only compete for one club for the duration of the NSW XC Relay Championships.

Registration is through your club. If you would like to compete at this event, please contact your club.

Individuals may compete in the relays on the condition they compete in the first leg.

Registered ANSW club athletes are required to wear their club uniform in all championship events, including this event.

Please arrive to the venue 45 minutes before your scheduled start time.

Team managers are to collect all team bibs from check in. Athletes are then to collect their bib from their team managers.

All masters age groups will be calculated as per the athletes age on the day of competition.

Athletes born in 2013 or later must compete in the age group for which their birthdate falls and are not permitted to compete ‘up’ an age group.

To compete and be eligible for the Championships race and medal, all athletes will have to hold one of the following:

  1. An Athletics NSW Youth, Junior, Concession or Open membership

Please visit our membership page on our website for more information here

  1. An eligible Little Athletics NSW membership.

Athletes who hold an ANSW community membership are still able to compete, however, will need to be entered as a non-championship team.

We are aware, especially in Winter 2024, athletes will be registered with two athletics club. For the purpose of relays, athletes can compete for either club. The choice remains with the athlete. It is important to note that the nucleus of the partnership is putting the athlete first, and building pathways and products that support athletes.

It is important to note that throughout a single competition (such as the XC relays) athletes cannot compete for more than one club. However, when they are registered with more than one club, they may compete for a different club at each of the Winter Series Competitions.

  1. Login to your club's RevSport portal.
  2. Find the athletes name by selecting 'members' menu, found on the left of the page.
  3. Use the search function to find the athlete's profile.
  4. Select the athlete's name.
  5. The membership ID is the first piece of information.

Firstly, have you checked your archived members to see if they are non-financial?

This can be done via advanced search.

As soon as you are made aware of the situation requiring a change and have a replacement athlete organised, please contact us here

Championship Team
