FAQ Country Championships

Event Information

  1. Check the website to confirm the start time of your event(s). The timetable has been updated since the draft.

  1. Collect your bib from the Check in tent as you arrive into the bvenue. 
  2. Track athletes will need to check-in 60 minutes prior to their event each day of competition. Please allow enough time to check in for your events. Field Athletes don't need to check in but will have to collect their bib on the first day of competition. 
  3. Once you have checked in, you need to arrive at your event site (or start area) no later than 10 minutes prior (track) and 20 minutes prior (field), or 45 minutes for Pole Vault.

The 2024 NSW Country Championships will be held at the Kerryn Mcann Athletics Centre for another fantastic edition of NSW Country track & field across three days of competition.

Yes.

This meet is ratified by World Athletics and Athletics Australia, in the Open and Under 20 age group events only. Athletes competing in these age groups can qualify for international and national competition, accumulate World Athletics ranking points, break Athletics NSW and Athletics Australian records, and have their performances added to World Athletics top lists. 

All Other events will be ratified as a state permit, allowing athletes to qualify for the National Championships.

Any athlete aged 10-80+ who is a member with Athletics NSW can compete at NSW Country Championships

Yes.

All Para events will be contested in the following age groups; U12, U15, U17, U20 and Open. All events will be listed as an Open event on the timetable and split by ages on the final results.

Entries/Filling out the Entry form

Entries are now closed for the event.

A season best is the performance the athlete has achieved for the discipline since 1st September 2022.

Athletics NSW only requires the season best for timetabling purposes. If an athlete does not have a season best, or hasn’t competed in the event before, they may enter 00.00 in the correct format.

On time entries close at 12pm Tuesday 16th January 2024.

Late entries will be guaranteed if submitted from 12pm Monday 8th January until 23:59 Monday 8th January 2024. But will incur the Athletics NSW late entry fee.

Athletes wishing to submit late entries from Monday 9th January will need to submit a nomination which will only be accepted should your entry be able to be accommodated in the Final Timetable.

Athletes may not hear about whether their entry can be accepted until Wednesday 17th January.

Eligibility/ages

To compete in the NSW Country Championships, you must hold an Open, Concession, Dual or Regional memberships with Athletics NSW for the 2023/24 season.

Your club must also be considered a Country Athletics Club.

A Country Club is an ANSW affiliated club, with its main training or competition venue more than 75km by road from the Sydney GPO. 

If you live in a country area but are registered with a club within the 75km radius you are NOT eligilbe to compete at this championship. 

Yes, although if you are aged 9-17 and registered with Little Athletics NSW, you can register with ANSW for free (plus club fee if applicable).

Firstly, Chexck you have recieved a confirmation reciept in your email that is linked to your membership. 

Secondly, Check your bank statements to see if a payment has been made.

 

If you believe you have registered though cannot find these resources please contact us. 

A full entry list will be available the week the competition will be commencing. This list will be updated periodically up until the competition commences. 

A Timetable is avaibale on our event page here. The timetable has been updated since entries have closed.  

It is the athlete’s responsibility to check the timetable on the Athletics NSW website, to see if there are any changes from the Draft Timetable to the Final Timetable.

No,

Athletes are not permitted to compete in more than one age group in the same event. Athletes who wish to compete up an age group may do so (providing they are eligible (see rule 1.6) but cannot also compete in their own age group.

Example: a 17 year old boy may compete in the U20 shot put but cannot also compete in the U18 shot put. For the purpose of this rule the following events are considered to be the same event: 3000m & 5000m; straight hurdles; 200m H & 400m H; 3000m Walk & 5000m Walk.

Athletes are to wear their Athletics NSW club uniform and competition bib. Bibs will be available for collection at the event.

Starting blocks must be used for all events up to and including 400m for athletes in the Under 15 years age group and older. Block usage for para athletes will be as per the relevant WPA rule for the athletes’ classification. Masters athletes are not required to use starting blocks. Only blocks provided by the venue may be used. 

Yes,

Spikes can be worn in all track events (yes, including distance events), jumps and javelin throw.

Spikes must meet the regulations of the venue.

The regulations are 7mm for track events and 9mm for Javelin/High Jump.
