The Level 2 Club Coach Course is the next progression from Level 1 and further develops the coaches understanding of how to coach fundamental skills and move toward event specific skills and drills. This level teaches coaches the basic technical models of the Track and Field events held at club and school level competitions. Additional topics include training principles, components of fitness, and the preparation and evaluation of training sessions suitable for intermediate level athletes.

Level 2 Club Coach Online Theory:

6 Modules delivered online over 6 weeks:

  • Module 1 Developing the Skills of Coaching
  • Module 2 The Principles of Training
  • Module 3 Development and Maturation
  • Module 4 The Training Environment
  • Module 5 Functional Movement Training
  • Module 6 Planning and Programming

Each module comprises:

  • Either a narrated power point presentation or an online module to view
  • Discussion points to consider and prepare responses to
  • A facilitated online discussion to engage with
  • An assessment task to complete and submit online.

Each week participants will receive a Teams Meeting invitation to join an online platform with the course facilitator and engage in a conversation on that week’s module.

Participants commitment each week/per module is estimated at:

  • View a narrated power point or online module approx. 45 minutes
  • Consider discussion points approx. 30 minutes
  • Engage in Teams Meeting approx. 60 minutes
  • Complete assessment tasks approx. 60 minutes

Additional time:

  • Complete Sport Australia online modules approx. 90 minutes

To gain Level 2 Club Coach accreditation, participants must:

  • Complete all Sport Australia online requirements as directed
  • 100% attendance at all online discussions
  • Complete and submit all Athletics Australia course assessment tasks.

Pre-Requisites:

Level 1 Recreational Running OR Level 1 Community Athletics Coach

Recognition of Prior Learning:

RPL Applications for Coaches are now available to apply for any level online to make the process easier for coaches who already hold the expected competencies of a given level of accreditation (Application Below).
