Selection Policy - NSW XC 2022 Team 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• Be a current member of Athletics NSW through one of its registered clubs
• Be a minimum of 12 years of age as at 31 December 2022
• Multi-class athletes must have at least a provisional classification and must have achieved the qualifying standard for their classification

NOMINATIONS
All athletes wishing to be selected in the Athletics NSW team for the 2022 Australian Cross Country Championships must submit a nomination via the online portal(s) which will open in late June 2022. Please note there are two portals - one if you satisfied all selection criteria and one for special consideration if you missed the NSW Cross Country event due to circumstances such as injury, illness or competing at an international competition.

FAQ's

I am not a member with an Athletics NSW club, can I still nominate for the Athletics NSW team?
If you are not a member, you can still nominate. However, if you are selected in the Athletics NSW team you will need to register with a club in order for your position in the team to be confirmed. 

If I place in the top 10 NSW Cross Country Championships (Saturday 18th June) and achieve an automatic qualification, do I still need to nominate?
Yes, all athletes wishing to be selected MUST nominate, regardless of whether they have automatically qualified. If you do not nominate, you cannot be selected. 

If an athlete who is selected in the team declines their position, will the next athlete be offered that position?
If an athletes declines their offer and does not confirm their position in the ANSW team, we will offer their position to the next eligible athlete up until the deadline for registrations. After this time ANSW will use its discretion to replace any further withdrawals. 

If I am selected, what do I wear?
All official representatives in the Athletics NSW team will be required to compete in the Athletics NSW state team uniform. you can purchase Uniforms https://www.valoursport.com.au/collections/answ-uniforms password ANSWUNIFORM!

So once I nominate, that's all I have to do?
Not quite. Athletes who are selected in the Athletics NSW team will be notified via email in July 2022, or earlier and will be sent a link to complete their event registration. An athlete's place will not be confirmed within the team until this registration is complete.
