The 2021 edition of the St George Classic will include this season's 10k Novice Cross Country Champinship along with fun run's to suit all ages an abilities. Additionally, to celebrate the centenary of the St George District  Athletics Club this year will feature an exciting new discipline in the form of a 4x1km relay!

 

Please Note - No on-the-day entries will be accepted for any events aside from the relay. All main events must be registered for online using this portal.

 

Events and Final Timetable (as of 10:30am Friday 21/05/2021)

  • 12:30pm - A.A. Gainsford 5km Fun Run

  • 1:10pm - Ron Gribble U12 2km Dash

  • 1:30pm - Albie Thomas 10km Classic

  • 2:15pm - NSW Novice Chmapionship

  • 3:00pm - Edith Robinson 3km Fun Run

  • 3:30pm - St George Centenary 4x1km Handicap Relay ($40 per team - enter with St George club on the afternoon)

 

Handicap and Fun Run events are also open to non-members.

Entry Fee's for the 10km, 5km and 3km are $25 for members and $35 for non-members.

Entry Fee's for the U12 2km are $15 for members and $25 for non-members.

*The Albie Thomas 10km will include three waves; Men and Women's Novice Championship, Elite Women's handicap, Elite Men's handicap.

Prizes and Prize Money

St. George District Athletic Club Centenary Medals to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall (male & female) in the 5km, Under 12 2km, Open/Elite 10km and 3km.

St. George District Athletic Club is pleased to confirm a $1500 prize purse (courtesy of our major sponsor- Cooper Wilson Commercial).

 

4 x 1km Handicap Relay - 

1st Place- $1000 CASH + Centenary Certificates

2nd Place- 4x $50 Shoe Vouchers (courtesy of The Running Company- The Shire) + Centenary Certificates

3rd Place- Centenary Certificates

 

Open/Elite 10km Handicap - 

$500 prize purse (winning male and winning female will receive prize money).

Participants may enter any distance run they so choose given it falls within age restrictions, however, to earn points towards the winter premiership the following table must be followed.

Event Rules

Novice Champs -

To be eligible to compete in the NSW Novice Championships athletes MUST NOT have places 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a NSW State Cross Country, Road or Track event 3000m to 42.195m in the Open Age Group. Any Athlete who has achieved a National or International medal will also be deemed ineligible for the Novice Championships. 

4x1km Handicap Relay - 

•    The course will be a flat rectangular loop and has been measured to be exactly 1.00km
•    Your team must comprise of FOUR people (any combination of age and gender). It is preferred (but not compulsory) that there is both a mix of male/females and runners are from the same club.
•    You need to create a team name (It is encouraged that team members wear the same uniform where possible)
•    Entry is to be done on the day only and will cost $40 ($10 per person)
•    If you cannot find a team, please pay $10 at the registration along with a 1km nominated time and we will endeavour to find you a team (entry fee will be refunded if we cannot find you a team)
•    Entries will close 30 minutes prior to the scheduled START TIME (unless entry limit reached earlier)
•    When entering, nominate your estimated 1km time for each team member. This will determine your handicap (if a team beats their combined time by more than 15.00 seconds, this team will be ineligible to win a prize)
•    Each team will start at different times based on their handicap (slowest combined time team starts first; fastest combined time team starts last)
•    First team across the line (who does NOT beat their combined time by more than 15.00 seconds) will be declared the winner
•    No watches, pacing or outside assistance will be allowed
