Athletics NSW aims to collate a number of suitable grants, scholarships and awards opportunities offered by external organisations that are available for eligible clubs and athletes to apply. 

Please note that while ANSW will endeavours to keep this page updated, it is not intended to be a comprehensive list and clubs/athletes should be mindful other grant opportunities beyond what is listed. Clubs and athletes should ensure they read through the selection criteria’s and take note of any closing dates.

If you require any letters of support you should submit your request online HERE, allowing the office a minimum of two working days to respond.

ClubGRANTS is one of Australia’s largest grant programs, providing more than $100 million in cash each year to a variety of worthy causes across NSW.

Charities, sporting organisations and not-for-profit community groups are among tens-of-thousands of worthy causes funded through the program each year.

ClubGRANTS

The BMD Community Assistance Program provides one-off support payments, up to a value of $5,000 each, for local community groups and organisations that deliver benefits through initiatives, programs or events within the communities in which BMD operates, all throughout Australia.

BMD Community Assistance Program

The Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program is aimed at providing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and associated equipment to NSW sport and recreation facilities and clubs. 

An AED is a device that is used in conjunction with Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and delivers a controlled shock to an individual experiencing cardiac arrest, increasing their chances of survival.

The NSW Government is providing up to $500,000 in funding to eligible sporting clubs and facility owners through the Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program in 2024/25 with grants up to $3,000 available.

In 2024/25 funding is open to applicants within the bottom five Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA) as ranked by the Australian Bureau of Statistics or those who can demonstrate financial hardship in order to prioritise available funds to those who need it most.

Due Date -  Upon funding allocation being exhausted or by 1:00 pm on 27 November 2024 whichever is earlier *

Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program

For 80+ years, Australians have been enjoying National Pies – at pie nights, at social clubs, and at footy matches big and small. To say thanks for your support, we’ve launched a new grants program: National Pies for Local Heroes.

Any registered Australian community group, sporting club or not-for-profit organisation can apply. We’ll award a grant of $1,000 each month over the next 12 months, beginning in March 2024. We’ll also award a major grant of $10,000 at the end of the program.

Amount - Monetary Grant up to $1,000 awarded each month / annual grant of $10,000

Due Date - Monthly until January 2025

National Pies for Local Heroes

Silvan Australia is a family-owned business recognized as an industry leader in agricultural machinery and rural lifestyle. Silvan have operated throughout local communities across Australia for 60 years and acknowledges the significance of local sporting clubs and their impact on community.

Via this recognition Silvan are offering local sporting clubs throughout Australia the opportunity to be a part of our Community Sponsorship Program with the chance to apply for a onetime cash grant towards the operation of club-based events, activities, projects, and equipment.

Silvan Australia Community Sponsorship Program

NSW volunteer involving organisations are invited to express interest in the Strong and Resilient Communities Activity (SARC)  Community Support  Small Grants for Volunteer Involving Organisations program. Administered by the State and Territory volunteering peak bodies, the small grants will assist grassroots organisations to strengthen volunteering through capability and capacity building.

Small volunteer involving organisations can apply for grants ($10,000 – $20,000) for one-off, time limited projects that build volunteer management capability, and help the organisation to support the social and economic participation of vulnerable and disadvantaged people.

Strong and Resilient Communities Activity Grant

Regional NSW

A joint initiative between Central Coast Council, Delta Coal and the local communities, this funding program is designed to improve community infrastructure and services 

Amount - Monetary Grant up to $30,000

Due Date - 15th September 2024

Chain Valley Colliery Community Funding Program

HVO supports local not for profit organisations and projects in the Upper Hunter and Lower Hunter through its bi-annual community grants program in April and September.

The grants are open to small scale projects that develop the communities in which HVO operates. Applications should target at least one of these focus areas:

  • Capacity building – including education and training, enterprise development and economic diversification
  • Health
  • Environment
  • Local need

Preference is given to applications that benefit communities in close proximity to HVO’s operations and activities. Typically, we fund applications up to $5,000 but may consider higher amounts. Applications for part funding will only be considered if remaining funds are already secured.

Hunter Valley Operations Community Grants

Whilst we will continue to offer funding between $1000–$4000 for individuals and organisations in regional areas along the Inland Rail route, applications from areas where construction is underway will constitute a greater focus for the Community Sponsorships and Donations Program.

Funding will be available to short-term projects and activities that contribute to local and regional prosperity, wellbeing and sustainability, such as upgrading community facilities and equipment, implementing unique STEM projects in schools, mentoring and developing local business communities, and hosting community events.

Inland Rail Grants

Support junior sport (under 18 y.o) in the NSW operational areas of Glencore’s Coal Assets Australia.

The program supports clubs and associations with projects that address their long term needs. Projects should have a focus on increasing the capacity of the club/association to support participation in junior sport on a sustainable (on-going) basis.

Applications for projects are sought from incorporated, not for profit sporting clubs or associations. 

Amount - Monetary Grant up to $7,500

Due Date - 31st August 2024

Location - Communities associated with Glencore’s operations will be prioritised, generally this includes the following Local Government Areas (LGA) and communities:

  • Singleton LGA
  • Cessnock LGA
  • Maitland LGA
  • Scone LGA
  • Muswellbrook LGA
  • Mid Western LGA.

Junior Sports Development Program NSW

 
 
Building strong connections through support in the local community.

Our Individual grants are $250 and club grants are $500 to support local sporting, creative & academic goals.

This grant is for under 18 year old individuals or groups that live or are based in Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Kempsey & Nambucca local areas.

McDonald's & The Munro Group - Junior Sports Grant

Nutrien Ag Solutions Community Grants is a small grants program aiming to contribute to the success, vibrancy and wellbeing of rural and regional communities nationwide.

Nutrien Ag Solutions seeks to support local grassroots organisations with funding for projects that are meaningful for their communities.

South32 Sponsorship

The Strengthening Rural Communities (SRC) Small & Vital stream gives small remote, rural and regional communities across Australia the opportunity to access funds for a broad range of initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities.

Grants up to $10,000 are available for a broad range of grassroots, community-led initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities that strengthen local people, places and climate solutions, with a preference for smaller communities (populations under 15,000).

FRRR’s Small & Vital program supports thriving, resilient, and sustainable remote, rural and regional communities across Australia. In particular, priority will be given to projects that:
– Support communities to implement generational transition;
– Invest in outback, remote, and less resourced communities;
– Build capacity and resourcing for a just and equitable energy transition;
– Support First Nations-led initiatives that strengthen culture, country, economic participation, and reconciliation.

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and assessed quarterly.

Strengthening Rural Communities — Small & Vital

We aim to deliver benefits to the families of children and youth who participate in sporting activities in Portside suburbs.

Applications for funding are open twice yearly during specified calling periods in February and August. We provide up to $1,500 per application per calling period. Specific requirements and assessment criteria apply.

Applications for funding must meet Port Waratah’s requirements and objectives. Before applying, please review the information below to determine whether your application aligns with our programme.

Youth Sport in Portside Suburbs

Greater Sydney

This grant is designed to increase participation in local sport and recreation activities, particularly in regards to the inclusion of:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders;
  • Disengaged young people;
  • Newly arrive migrants, refugees and humanitarian entrants;
  • People experiencing homelessness; people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds;
  • People living with disabilities;
  • People of diverse genders and/or sexuality (LGBTI);
  • People over 55 years of age, particularly those living alone;
  • Women and girls.

Heritage Bank Sponsorship

This Community Grants Program is administered by the Community Enterprise Foundation™ and is made possible through the generous support of Community Bank Lindfield & Districts, marking 21 years as a vital part of our community.

In celebration of 21 years of service to the Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby communities, Community Bank Lindfield & Districts, in partnership with Ku-ring-gai Financial Services Limited, is launching its largest-ever community giveaway— a Grants Program offering up to $210,000.

Area: The Lindfield & Districts 21st Birthday Community Grants Program is designed to support programs and projects within the Ku-ring-gai, Hornsby and near surrounds.

2024 Lindfield & Districts 21st Birthday Community Grants Program NSW
