World Athletics has provided an interactive online training programme for Level 1 and the best part is you can do it at your own pace! This will give you a comprehensive education of track and field and the confidence to officiate.
To make the process more managble Athletics NSW has spilt the programme into six stages. Stage 1 is mandatory before moving forward, but after this stage you can complete the rest of the education at your own pace as quickly or slowly as you free time allows.
Stage 1 only requires you to complete the following four (4) modules before you can start officiating to gain practical knowledge. These modules can be completed in any order.
- Long/Triple Jump
- Shot Put
- The Race
- The Start

Once you have become an official you can officiate at school carnivals. It is great for people who are:

- people who have free time during the week.
