PREVIEW: 120th NSW Open Track and Field Championships

The 120th NSW Track and Field Championships are set down for Homebush this weekend. Rich in history and prestige, they record the annual champion of NSW. This year’s three-day championships include a mix of Olympians, Paralympians, interstate and a few internationals. With a few weeks until the #SummerOfAths Meet in Canberra and the eight-day national championships, athletes are keen to record qualifying times for the various teams to enhance their selection prospects. Teams include: world championships, IPC world championships, World University Games and Commonwealth Youth.

This year the Sydney Classic will be held on Saturday night in conjunction with the meet.

CEO Message - February 2017

As we reach the pinnacle of the ANSW summer season, I hope that you are enjoying what is an exciting time for athletics.
Firstly, I am pleased to confirm that we have 585 online entrants for this weekend’s New South Wales Open Track and Field Championships, up from 501 last year.  With the super-hot weather hopefully behind us, we are set for a great weekend of top quality action at the best athletics facility in the country.  While there will be great events right through the three day program, keep an eye out for the Sydney Classic component of the meet on Saturday night, involving Open Championship finals including some of the biggest names in the sport.  Events for the Sydney Classic start just after 6:00pm.

Participant of the Month December - Marilyn Pearson

Marilyn Pearson (pictured far right) gave up her occupation as a Registered Nurse and Midwife to pursue her passion and a career in athletics coaching, and what a wonderful career it is. Marilyn’s first introduction to athletics was back in 1980 when her eldest son registered as an U9 with Little Athletics NSW.
