Eight NSW athletes have been selected as finalists at the premier NSW Sports Awards recently announced. Managed by Sport NSW, seven finalists were named in each category where a who’s who of elite sport in NSW have been recognised.
NSW South Coast distance runner, Jaylah Hancock-Cameron has won silver with two outstanding performances at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires this week.
On Friday morning, day five of competition at the Youth Olympic Games, we will see the commencement of the track and field program in Buenos Aires, where 13 Aussies will compete against 179 nations in athletics.
Well the smell of liniment is in the air and getting stronger, so that means the summer component of our athletics calendar is underway. Let me first thank the Bankstown club for hosting the first Allcomers last weekend as well as the ANSW 10,000 metre state championships. The teamwork between the Bankstown club, ANSW staff, and ANSW officials, ensured a well-run event and it was a great start to our summer season.
The 2018 2XU NSW All Schools Track and Field Championships closed with another outstanding all-round performance by an athlete, on this occasion Lachlan Wood who won a fourth medal in an extraordinary range of events from 100m to 800m.
