NSW London contingent now 22 athletes

There was great late news for another five NSW athletes who were added to the Australian team for the 2017 IAAF World Championships, through the ‘roll-down process. The additions brought the number of NSW athletes up to 22.

Added to the team were: distance runners Heidi See, Victoria Mitchell and Lora Storey, along with high jumper Nicola McDermott and hurdler Michelle Jenneke.

While winter can be seen as an ‘off-season’ for athletics, nothing could be further from the truth as there are a variety of events currently taking place across the spectrum of our sport.

At the pinnacle, the Para and World Athletics Championships in London give our elite athletes the opportunity to take on the best in the world.  In the case of James Turner (200m, 400m & 800m) and Scott Reardon and Evan O’Hanlon, they have already conquered the best competition to take away gold.

Solomon and Samuels to lead 17 NSW athletes back to London

NSW will be represented by 17 athletes next month in London at the IAAF World Championships. For nine days of competition, from August 5 to 13, many of our athletes will return to the stadium for the 2012 London Olympics.  The number of team members is likely to rise when the IAAF roll-down offers are made, expected to be in the next few days.
