Randwick Botany and Sydney University defend titles at 25th NSW XC Relays

The 25th NSW Cross Country Relays were held in near perfect conditions at Miranda in the Sutherland Shire yesterday. A tremendous number of 179 teams competed and with dozens of individual also racing there would have been nearly 800 athletes running. Defending open champions, Randwick Botany (men) and Sydney University (women) share the honours.

Ballard breaks world record

Ballard breaks world record

Paralympian Angie Ballard has broken the world T53 400 metres world records at an IPC Grand prix meet in Nottwil (SUI). With one day of competition tomorrow, Ballard has won the 100m, 400m and 800m. Rosemary Little has also been in top form three silvers, while Sydney-based WA athlete Madison de Rozario has claimed two bronze medals.

The 2015 winter walks championship season kicked off in perfect weather on Sunday at Narellan. For the winners of the NSW 10km team walk championship, Beki Smith and Brandon Reading, the race was a good result on the road to Rio.

Athletics NSW dinner to celebrate season

The annual Athletics NSW dinner, to be held on Saturday June 13, will be an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate some of the outstanding athletes, coaches, officials, administrators and clubs in NSW.  To be held at the Novotel Hotel at Sydney Olympic Park, the evening will be hosted by Newcastle’s Silas Moss and Dave Robertson or as we all know them Mossy and Robbo.

Australia’s Indigenous Heritage Recognised by the AOC

At the recent AGM of the Australian Olympic Committee there was a change to the constitution to recognise our nation’s first people. Since 1964, 43 indigenous athletes have competed at the Olympics, including three NSW athletes.
