93rd Australian Athletics Championships – Day 4 Review

Day four at the national track and field championships was an extraordinary day for NSW athletes. Hurdlers Nick Hough and Michelle Jenneke re-wrote the record books, both now the second fastest in Australian history as they nailed world championships qualifiers. Sprinter Ella Nelson jumped from 23rd to 16th on the Australian All time 200m list as she booked her place for the world championships, along with Queensland-based Dani Samuels. Teenager, Angus Armstrong is now the youngest ever pole vault winner  since the first championships 120 years and Westfields javelin throw Matt Outzen continued his best ever season with his first national title.

93rd Australian Athletics Championships – Day 3 Review

Day three of the national track and field championships were conducted in ideal conditions, although some events would have preferred less breeze. NSW athletes crowned national champions ranged from an established pair (Anneliese Rubie & Brandon Starc), to a rising star (Josh Clarke 100m), to an overseas based eunner (Heidi See) to a totally unknown athlete (Chelsea Lenarduzzi).

93rd Australian Athletics Championships – Day 2 Review

The national track and field championships continued in Brisbane yesterday in fine conditions. In the open combined events, training partners Alysha Burnett and Kyle Cranston won silver in the heptathlon and decathlon respectively, while in the junior events Emma-Sue Greentree and Caelan Shaw claimed national titles. Alex Hulley capped a great season with silver in the hammer throw and in the ambulant 400m, Stephanie Schweitzer was second with a B world championship qualifier.
