Sydney Half relaunched

After 26 years of history, the NSW Half Marathon will be relaunched in 2015 with a new look, including new events and a new course. On Sunday August 23, the gun will fire for the race which will cover three laps of a 7km course around Sydney Olympic Park and including the iconic Olympic Boulevard. The race will be supported by the Greater 7km fun run and Little Athletics 2km fun run.

NSW athletes in the Battle of Lone Pine

One hundred years ago this week the Battle of Lone Pine on the Gallipoli Peninsula took place. Below are stories of two prominent NSW athletes, Allan Scott and Joseph Lynch who fought in the battle. Scott, a pioneering high jumper, received a Distinguished Service Order award, specifically for ‘conspicuous gallantry in the attack on Lone Pine’, while Lynch, who was a 1908 Olympian, also served in the battle of Lone Pine.
