Parkrun to track

Social and recreational running took off in Australia in the ‘70s with the emergence of thousands of fun runs across the country. The largest would be the popular City to Surf. Possibly the most famous fun runner was Sydney’s Andrew Lloyd. The four-time winner of the City to Surf ran seriously on the track, running in the ‘80s and ‘90s, going on to run the 5000metres at the World Championships and 1988 Olympics. But it is his amazing sprint home in the 5000 metres at the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games that he will forever be remembered for. Watch a video of this race here
