One of the competitors at this weekend’s NSW Masters Championships, Richard Hughes made his debut in athletics at the ripe old age of 70 years, when he competed at the 2002 World Masters Games in Melbourne.

Training partners James Nipperess and Kate Spencer claimed the NSW 5000m Championships at Homebush on Saturday.  However they went about their wins in vastly different styles. Nipperess opened up a very large early lead, while Spencer had company until the last couple of laps.
