The first Australian Mile Championships for 25 years, held in Sydney last evening, was a major success. Conducted as part of Bankstown Sports Athletics Club’s annual Albie Thomas Meet the championships attracted quality fields who produced on the evening. In the boutique Crest venue, it was a relaxed atmosphere, but still a sense of history and occasion that made it a great event and a must do on your athletics calendar.

Stella Maris and Pymble Ladies College claim Schools Knockout titles

After three days of rain at the Australian All Schools in Cairns, the skies cleared for the Coles Nitro Schools Challenge National Final held on Monday, although there were still lingering effects from the weekend weather with the jumping events cancelled. Sydney schools Stella Maris and Pymble Ladies College were outstanding with Stella Maris taking the seniors and PLC the Intermediate and Juniors. In the boys, Trinity Grammar School, who were weakened significantly by the cancelation of the jumping events, were runners-up in all three divisions.
