NSW 5000m Championships

2018-2019 NSW 5000m Championships

The NSW 5000m Championships are to be held at The Crest Athletics Centre (Bankstown) on the evening of Saturday 2nd February, 2019 and conducted in the open category for both men and women.


Races will be seeded based on seed performance and not age.


The male and female U20 5000m championship will be included in the NSW 5000m Championships.There will be no separate races for U20 athletes. All races will be open seeded races and U20 placing's will be based on finishing times of those eligible. 


The 5000m Championships for underage and masters athletes (where applicable) are conducted at the relevant State Championships.


State Championship entry fee is $20. Athletes without a credit card or internet access should contact the Athletics NSW office well in advance of the closing date to arrange alternative entry.

Late entries will be only accepted if positions exist in the most appropriate race for the athlete. Late entry into the Championship is not guaranteed and if accepted will cost $35. The decision of the Athletics NSW Competition Manager is final and no correspondence will be entered into.


Start Lists will be posted on the ANSW website by 5:00pm Thursday 31st January, 2019. Athletes should check these start lists to confirm the race they will contest and the start time.


All athletes must confirm their entry on the day at least 60 minutes before the race they have been entered. Failure to check in will result in the athlete being scratched from the event.


Athletes are strongly encouraged provide a lap scorer, who will report to the finish line area at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the race.

Competition Status:

These events are permitted by Athletics Australia (AA). An AA permit allows athletes to qualify for international events and break state and/ or national records.

Athletes must be registered with an Athletics NSW affiliated club for the 2018/19 season. If you are not currently registered with a club you can register online here.

Registered Athletics NSW club members must wear their correct club uniform. Athletes must have their Athletics NSW 2018/19 registration numbers attached on the front and back (except in jumps events).



On the day entries will be available for a $20 entry fee that can be paid on the day at registration by cash or EFTPOS. 

Please ensure you register at least 90 minutes prior to the first 5000m event.

The Athletics NSW Competition Manager has discretion in accepting any NSW 5000m Championship entry.

On the Day Check-in

All athletes in TRACK events must report to athlete check in to advise of their intention to compete at least sixty (60) minutes before the scheduled starting time of the event.
