WARATAH RUN SERIES

 

The Waratah Run Series is a rebranded and remodelled set of XC, road races and relays events. These events are for participants of all ages and abilities, and focus on participant enjoyment and on the day entertainment. Formally known as the ‘Athletics NSW Winter Series’, the Waratah Run Series is a community based social event, incorporating a championship component. 

 

2017 XCC SHORT COURSE

 

The 2017 XCC Short Course is an amalgamation of the Athletics NSW Short Course Cross Country Championships and the Little Athletics NSW Cross Country Championships. Races in the U7 - U11 age groups will be conducted under Little Athletics NSW rules and races in the U13 - 75+ age groups will be conducted under Athletics NSW rules.

The XCC Short Course is a unique event which needs to be marked in your running calendar! There are a range of different distances on trails throughout Sydney’s inner west which are suitable for all ages and abilities. The 2017 event will be hosted by the West Met running group, held at Upjohn Park, Rydalmere.  On top of this, the event will play host to on the day activations, food and drink stalls, captivating race callers as well as entertaining music.

HOW TO ENTER

Online entries close midnight Wednesday 28th June 2017.

 

On the day entry is available at the registration desk. An on the day entry must be submitted at least 30 minutes before the start of the race.

 

ELIGIBILITY

 


Members are to be registered with Athletics NSW (or other state member association or Little Athletics NSW ) for the 2016-17 season and wear their club/centre uniform with their bibs worn front and back for the duration of the event.

 

Non-members are eligible to enter however only ANSW registered athletes (or other athletes registered with another state member association) are eligible to receive medals in State Championship events.


TAG TIMING

All Athletics NSW Members (excluding Dual, Community and Club athletes) will receive a Timing Tag as part of their Membership Pack. This tag will be theirs to use at RunNSW and Waratah Series out of stadia events. Athletes must return the tags to Athletics NSW at the end of the season, as new tags will be allocated each season. The purpose of the Timing Tag is to provide a greater benefit to our members through a more efficient ‘Check In’ process for events and competitions. It is important to note that the Number on the Timing Tag will match the number on the Athlete’s Bib.

Dual members and non-members will be required to report to athlete check in at least 45 minutes prior to the race start time to collect a temporary timing tag. This tag must be returned at the conclusion of the race.

 

PARTICIPANT CHECK-IN

 

Members (excluding Dual, Community and Club athletes) who have entered online are not required to report to athlete check-in. You must however wear both your competition bib and dedicated timing tag for your performance to be verified.

MEDAL PRESENTATION

 

Medals will be presented to all individual medalists after the conclusion of each race. Team medals for the U7 - U18 categories will be awarded on the day. All other team medals will be sent to clubs in the week after the XCC Short Course.

FOOD & BEVERAGES

 

The West Met Club will be operating a canteen on site. On top of this, the event will play host to on the day activations, encaptivating race callers as well as entertaining music. 


 

 

NSW WINTER PREMIERSHIP & WINTER TROPHY

 

Races included in the XCC Challenge will be point scoring events towards the Winter Premiership, Winter Trophy and Distance Runner of the Year.

AGE GROUPS:


An athlete’s age in the U7 – U11 age groups are as per Little Athletics rules.

An athlete’s age in the U13 – Open age groups are as of 31 December 2017.

An athlete’s age in the Masters age groups are as of 25th June 2017.

The 2017 XCC Short Course is conducted in the following age groups:

U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U20, Open, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.

 

Due to the cross over in age divisions between Athletics NSW and Little Athletics NSW there will be no U12 division. Athletes that are 10 years old as of 1st September 2016 are eligible for the U11 race. Athletes who are 11 as of 1st September 2016 or turn 12 in 2017 are to compete in the U13 race. TEAMS

 

In the U7 – U11 age groups the team format follows the Little Athletics rules.

The team format for the U14 – 75+ age groups follows the Athletics NSW rules.

In the U14, U16 and U18 age groups, ANSW members and dual members represent their senior athletics club. Runners that are registered with LANSW only, represent their Little Athletics Centre. 

 

 

AGE/GENDER FORM

 

Click here for age-gender form.  This form is to be used by clubs who wish to create teams with members who do not fit naturally into the team.  For example an 55+ woman who wants to be in an 35+ club team should be listed on this form, and the form submitted BEFORE the race begins.
